Abstract –Malcolm Griffiths
23rd September 2004: Symphysis pubis dysfunction.

I was first introduced to the concepts of symphysis pubis diastasis by physiotherapists and have since developed a clinical interest and have had the opportunity to draw on the cases I have seen.

My talk will be based on that experience and a review of the literature and will aim to cover:
  1. Anatomy
  2. The role of relaxin
  3. Prevalence
  4. Aetiology
  5. Presentation, morbidity and patterns of disease
  6. Obstetric Management
  7. The problem of the sceptical obstetrician

Copies of slides will be available, as will a bibliography.
